Become a Member

Membership is open to everyone. Join a pennant team, play just for fun, or come for the social side. We cater for bowlers of all skill levels, with excellent facilities and a friendly atmosphere. There are no strangers here, only friends you haven't met yet.

Why play lawn bowls?

Enjoy yourself, get fit, stay active and make new friends.

Good for body and mind

Bowls is mentally stimulating and gets you outdoors and active. You don't need outstanding strength or fitness to play, unless you're heading for the very top level.

Friendships

It's a great way to make new friends, and to bring your own along for support and fun. At Auburn there are no strangers, only friends you haven't met yet.

Learning the game

The best way to learn is to play. New players get a mentor or buddy, our club coach builds your confidence, and you can join social bowls or competition as a beginner. Members are very supportive of new players.

A game for life

Bowls is a competitive outlet you can enjoy for most of your life. There are club and local tournaments for all skill levels, relaxed mixed events, and club, regional and national events for competitive players.

Life at the club

  • Come down any time: to bowl or socialise. The bar is open Monday to Saturday.
  • Social calendar: regular BBQs, club functions, and members get together every Thursday night.
  • Games and practice: competitive and social bowls, free coaching, and practice seven days a week, alone or with other members.
  • More than bowls: a pool table and darts board for members.
  • Your own functions: members get reduced rates on venue hire.
  • Family and friends: always welcome.

Run by members

  • Not-for-profit: Auburn is run by member volunteers, for the benefit of all members.
  • What volunteers do: run the club's business, organise the bowls program (including team selection), look after the grounds, help with functions and tournaments, and run social activities.
  • Lend a hand if you can: volunteering isn't compulsory, but it's appreciated. The time commitment isn't onerous and fits around what you're available for and interested in.
  • It's rewarding: members who pitch in say they get a great deal of personal satisfaction from it.
